On May 31, Indiana Higher Education Telecommunications Systems is retiring its State University Voice Operated Network (SUVON) service. SUVON is the service you or members of your unit use when dialing 16 before an outgoing number.

IU marks 10-year IT plan anniversary, embarks on next visionary IT plan

In 1998, IU set out with a bold plan to make IU a "leader in absolute terms in the use and application of IT."

IU is commemorating its rise in national and international areas of IT, and formally announcing its next 2008 IT Strategic Plan, launching a new planning effort that includes 140 faculty, staff and students, who are charged with developing a plan that is "visionary, realistic and relevant to the missions of IU campuses."

New recommendations for secure alternatives to SSH and FTP/SFTP

When connecting to Webserve or Steel to work with your web pages, you must use a secure telnet or FTP client. Until recently, UITS recommended SSH Secure Shell. Because this product is no longer free to download, we recommend WinSCP and PuTTY as alternative SSH clients.
