IU Statewide IT Conference brings together partners from across state

More than 400 IT professionals traveled from IU campuses and organizations across Indiana to discuss key IT initiatives in breakout sessions, leadership talks, and networking functions in Bloomington at this years' Statewide IT Conference.

Cutting edge videoconferencing technology was on display at the 13th annual conference, an event developed especially for the extended team of information technology professionals from all of Indiana University and held recently at IU Bloomington. The gathering at the Indiana Memorial Union highlighted the many diverse partnerships that carry out the strategic initiatives for education, the performing arts, life sciences, research, collaborations, and scholarly communications that are essential for IU - and that all require cutting-edge cyberinfrastructure.

Microsoft and Google visiting IU Bloomington

In the coming weeks, Microsoft and Google will visit campus to showcase their educational offerings. Earlier this year, IU partnered with both vendors to launch Imail (powered by Microsoft) and Umail (powered by Google) student email.

IT communications at IU enjoy fruitful awards season

Each year, technical communications organizations gather to recognize outstanding work in the field. This year, numerous Indiana University information technology communicators have been honored by their peers.

Four IU communications products will be recognized by the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services. Three of these were awarded best of category. The Society for Technical Communication also presented a Distinguished Award, an International Award of Merit, and three Awards of Excellence to IU communicators earlier this year.
